Lizzie Jeter Road Fire Update – 18:00 Hours, 3/2/2025

As of 6:00 p.m. the Lizzie Jeter Road Fire is 100% contained.

The NC Forestry Service, along with fire departments from across Harnett and Moore Counties, worked tirelessly to suppress the fire, protect structures, and establish containment lines for almost 27 hours.
Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was initially dispatched to this outside fire just prior to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The fire ultimately grew to over 100 acres, damaging or destroying several vehicles and impacting a structure. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

While some smoke and visible flames may still be present within the containment area, the fire is fully contained.

We urge everyone to remain vigilant and refrain from any outdoor burning until significant rainfall occurs.

My husband and I recently bought the property at 956 Running Brook Ln. needless to say we were concerned to see how the fire affected the property. We are both in awe of the work done by your firefighters, NC Forestry and additional fire departments. Our land was where the controlled burn took place. We’re so thankful you stopped the fire’s advance towards the homes across the road. Thank you, thank you for the awesome job.
