On April 20, 2021 Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to an outside fire on Harman Road in our Harnett County Fire District. While units were enroute to what was initially reported as an outside fire the call type was changed to a Structure Fire due to multiple 911 callers advising that buildings were now involved. The dispatch center upgraded the dispatch to include additional units from CPFR as well as automatic aid from Spout Springs Fire Department and Crains Creek Fire Department. Brush 217 arrived in the area and could see heavy smoke and fire but initially had difficulty gaining access to the fire. A resident in the area show B-217 the path to gain access to the fire but before gaining full access they had to cut a tree out of the way. Once B-217 was on-site they reported a working woods fire that was spreading, a small building fully involved with other small structures endangered and several piles of storage material on-fire. Because of the very limited access, Engine 243 hand-jacked a supply line from Harman Drive to B-217's location for water supply, E-243 utilized tankers to maintain water supply. B-217 initiated attack with one attack line and a booster line and started to knock down the bulk of the fire. Members from Crains Creek and Spout Springs were utilized to help with extinguishment of the fire in the encampment area. Additional members from CPFR started to rake a line in front of the woods fire until Harnett County Forestry deployed a plow on the woods fire to stop the forward progress of the fire. While on-scene crews were working to extinguish the remaining fire they located a fire victim in the remains of the building. Extinguishment operations in the area of the body were stopped and the Harnett County Sheriff's Office and Harnett County Fire Marshal were requested for an investigation. The remaining fire was extinguished and the scene turned over to the Fire Marshal's Office. This continues to be an active investigation.
