Early Sunday morning, a first alarm structure fire assignment was dispatched to 194 Gilliam-McConnell Road in Carthage. The business at this location is well known restaurant not only in Moore County but through-out North Carolina. The business is Pik-n-Pig, Barbeque. While units were enroute they were advised that fire and smoke was showing from the rear of the structure. Upon the arrival of Carthage Engine 311 they reported a working structure fire and assigned Southern Pines Engine 822 to lay a supply line from the closest fire hydrant. They requested Ladder 31 to set up for aerial operations to support fire extinguishment. Due to the volume of fire a second alarm was requested and eventually two special calls for additional staffing were requested. Significant fire damage was present through out much of the restaurant. The fire is being investigated by Moore County Public Safety, Office of the State Fire Marshal, N.C. State Bureau Of Investigation and Carthage Police Department.
