Lizzie Jetter Fire Update – Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
The Lizzie Jetter Fire continued burning overnight, though its progress slowed after 2:00 a.m. due to a slight shift in fire weather. As of this morning, no structures are threatened. However, around 7:30 a.m., fire activity increased, with flame lengths reaching 3 to 9 feet.
Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and Spout Springs Fire Department monitored the fire throughout the night, ensuring no erratic behavior or structural threats. The fire remains in heavily wooded and swampy terrain, making access difficult. A drone from Moore Breaking News was used to track its movement.
At approximately 8:00 a.m., the North Carolina Forestry Service deployed two plows to aggressively contain the head fire during daylight hours. The Forestry Service will also be using a spotter plane to evaluate fire attack methods and relay them to the ground crews today. Cypress Pointe continues to monitor the situation and provide structural protection as needed. |
