In the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 Cypress Pointe was dispatched to a structure fire on U.S. 1 Business in Cameron. Just after 4:00 a.m. Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue and our automatic aid partners were dispatched to this structure fire. Upon the arrival of Engine 211 they reported a "Working Structure Fire" with heavy involvement in the front of the house with fire spreading toward the rear of the house. Fire attack was also hampered by a live downed power line. Crews deployed two 2.5-inch hose lines and a 1 3/4-inch attack line and flowed a high volume of water for several minutes in order to knock down the fire. It was determined that the house was vacant with the exception of a dog that stayed on the property, the dog was not injured and returned to his owner. Due to the high fire volume a second alarm was requested. Responding departments included: Carthage Fire Department, Crains Creek Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire Department, Southern Pines Fire Department, Lemon Springs Fire Department, Moore County EMS and Moore County Sheriff's Office. Moore County Public Safety determined that the fire was accidental.
