Cypress Pointe Fire/Rescue was dispatched to the 1200 block of Cypress Church Road on Wednesday for an outside fire that had escaped from a controlled burn. The fire was in a wooded area that was difficult to access by the fire department, this area is also on the back side of the Woodlake Community. Fire command utilized natural breaks such as dirt and paved roads to limit the fires travel. Additional fire apparatus was requested from Crains Creek Fire Department along with a plow and rangers from the North Carolina Forest Service. Prior to the Cypress Church Road Fire, CPFR was requested to send a Brush Truck and crew for a large outside fire in Eagle Springs. This fire burned 20 acres before it was ruled as under control. A drone from Moore Breaking News was also utilized to evaluate the fire from the air.
