Just after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night CPFR and Moore County EMS were dispatched to a single vehicle wreck at the intersection of NC 24/27 and Red Hill Road in Cameron. Upon the arrival of CPFR personnel they reported a single vehicle verses a tree with one occupant still in the vehicle and NC 24/27 was partially blocked. Due to the severity of the wreck and not being able to gain direct access to the patient a helicopter was requested for transport to a trauma center. CPFR crews quickly initiated extrication of the victim by removing the driver's side door of the car so that the patient could be removed and treated for injuries. After the victim was extricated, he was examined by EMS, and it was determined that his injuries did not require a trauma center. The helicopter was cancelled, and the Landing Zone was demobilized. The Moore County Sheriff's Officer assisted with traffic control and the North Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this wreck.
